It’s August 3rd, 2025, and I’m excited to share a little bit about my lemon tree. About a year ago, I decided to try growing a lemon tree from a seed. It sounded like a fun experiment, a slow project to watch unfold over time.
I started with a simple lemon seed, saved from a fruit I bought at the store. Getting it to sprout was the first hurdle. I soaked the seed, then planted it in a small pot with some good quality potting mix. For the first few weeks, I kept the soil consistently moist and warm, patiently waiting. It felt like a bit of a gamble β would it sprout, or would it just sit there?
Then, one morning, I saw it! A tiny green shoot pushing its way through the soil. That first sign of life was incredibly rewarding. From that tiny sprout, the real growth began. It was slow at first, just a few small leaves on a delicate stem. But as the months went by, with plenty of sunlight and occasional watering, it started to fill out.
Moving it to a slightly larger pot was a milestone. I remember checking the roots, seeing how they had developed. It felt like I was nurturing something truly special. Throughout the spring and summer, I made sure it got plenty of light. Lemon trees love sun, and my little tree soaked it all up. I noticed new leaves unfurling, and the stem grew taller and a bit sturdier.
One of the most exciting parts has been observing the changes. It’s not just about growth; it’s about seeing how it responds to care, to the seasons. I learned that consistent watering, without waterlogging the soil, is key. And finding that perfect sunny spot in my home made a noticeable difference in its vigor.
Now, at one year old, it’s about a foot tall and has a nice bushy shape with glossy green leaves. It hasn’t produced any lemons yet β that’s a future goal! But seeing it thrive, knowing I grew it from a tiny seed, is a deeply satisfying feeling. Itβs a reminder of the quiet magic happening in nature, and how rewarding it can be to be a part of it, even on a small scale. This little tree has brought a bit of sunshine and a lot of patience into my life.
