Hey creative friends!
Today, I wanted to chat about something a little different, but totally connected to what we love: color. We spend so much time thinking about color in our art – the perfect shade of blue for a moody sky, the vibrant red to make a flower pop, or the subtle greens in a forest scene. But have you ever stopped to think about how color influences our everyday lives, beyond the canvas?
Color has a fascinating way of affecting our mood, our energy, and even how we perceive things. Think about walking into a brightly lit room with sunny yellow walls; it often feels instantly cheerful, right? Or how about a calming space painted in soft blues and greens? It can feel like a peaceful retreat.
This got me thinking about how we can bring more intentional color into our lives, just like we do with our art supplies. It doesn’t have to be a huge overhaul. It could be as simple as choosing a colorful mug for your morning coffee, incorporating a few bright cushions into your living space, or even just wearing a shade that makes you feel amazing.
For me, as an artist who works with color every single day, it’s a constant exploration. I’m always experimenting with new palettes for my paintings. Lately, I’ve been really drawn to earthy tones – terracotta, muted ochres, and deep forest greens. They feel grounding and connected to nature, which is a huge source of inspiration for me.
It’s like a different kind of creative process. Instead of mixing paint on a palette, we’re choosing elements for our environment or our wardrobe that speak to us. It’s about creating little moments of joy and visual interest throughout the day.
What are your favorite colors right now? Are there any hues that instantly lift your mood or bring you a sense of calm? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below! Let’s share some color inspiration.
Keep creating,
Anya
